Journey of Life

(An entry to Blogfest #20  Hosted by Linda Padilla Schulman)
Our lives are like long journeys that we don't even know when they will end. Sometimes, we don't know where they began until we've realized that we are part of the journeys. Do you think they were prearranged?

Just the thought of it, sometimes makes me chill. You meet a certain person in your life and somehow, someway, that person makes a difference in your life. You wonder how and why... Only much later, you realized the answer. Maybe just like what Steve Jobs has said "Our lives are like connecting the dots." Except you don't know ahead of times and only when you look back, you will be able to connect them. I guess that is why life is so mysterious and mystical.

Having said that, A friend of mine has mentioned to me that I needed to do something for my life since I am not getting any younger. That words keep ringing in my ears and I started to ask myself. All of these years, I have been devoted my life to my children. What have I done for myself? What hobbies do I have? What would I like to do in my spare time? Tell you the truth .. I don't have any. Aside from planning for vacation and traveling itself excites me, I don't have any thing that I like to do.

Even in my career, I recently re-discovered that I enjoy leadership role which I have done for many years in the past and decided to abandon it long ago for my children's sake. I made my choice and I have never regretted it. I can clearly see the fruits of my devotion to my family. But, going forward .. that is what I would like to do except I need to start all over again. Funny about people, no one is willing to give you a chance until you are one. But then, you need to start somewhere and that somewhere is what I am searching for.

In the midst of all of this confusion, I have re-discovered that I love to write which I have long forgotten. I used to write poems when I was in high school and I even wrote short stories. And here I am...Blogging my way out and I hope you will find my writings enticing.

Until next stop,
Journey of Life

  1. Welcome to "blogspot." I have found it to be somewhat cathartic as well for these past couple of years (

BTW, the problem I have with Steve Jobs's "connect the dots" metaphor is that it presumes that those "dots" are there, and that we are more or less acting at the whim of some other person or thing who has spelt out our life's destiny for us. If you don't connect the dots in the proper order, then you've in a sense failed and made a mess of the big picture.

I don't think that life is that fatalistic - we are not helpless, and in fact are very much in control of where the "dots" go, and how to "connect" them.

Sometimes, the best picture is the one where you don't follow the rules, connect the dots in the proper order, or colour within the lines.

  2. Thank you! I love your writing, btw. I was reading your blog months ago when you posted about your trip to Disney World. That was interesting. Now, I am one of your follower.
Speaking of not following the rules ...
I am on the verge of walking around the dots and attempt to expand beyond in my journey of life ..

  3. I always enjoy visiting you here and going on your journeys with you. Life is a journey. Love the new picture at the top of your blog!

  4. I love your writing!! It takes me places I am otherwise unable to visit--and gives me a peak through your lens!!

Doing something for you is great advice. It is never too late to pick up a new hobby, writing included :D

    Cheers, Jenn
