My mind is always wondering where to go and it is hard for me
to be confined and write based on writing prompt. But I did it once on Sandra’s
post and I supposed it wasn’t so bad at all … in fact, it let me explore and now
I am responding to Jenn’s post –Summer.
Closing my eyes with my arms wide open—this is how I would embrace Summer each time. Perhaps it is the
time for me to travel. For those who know me personally or thru my writings—travel is me, travel is my favorite thing on earth.
In fact, during my weekend away with hubby http://journeyofmylifendestiny.blogspot.com/2012/06/sealed-with-kiss.html , we have come across this subject, --what is
the one thing that I must do that I can’t live without. After thinking for awhile,
I said, “I don’t really care much about materials, be jewelry or huge house. I
always get what I want, in fact there is not a thing that I want that I don’t
have. Note this, I never wish for anything beyond our buying power. I am pretty
realistic person. I do dream but still I don’t dream about material. There are
two things that I would cry for if I can’t have them. First one is my career. I
love my career –tho I am not having
the best career at this point of my life but I still can live with it. Another
one is traveling.”
Traveling means Summer (and Winter) in our family. Ever
since when I was in College, I can’t wait for Summer (and Winter) to come then
I can stretch my legs and start walking and exploring to the unfamiliar places
(or perhaps some familiar ones with our kids) but still with the same curious
eyes. These curious eyes of mine have traveled far and beyond and still find
each unique (even it is not famous) place quite fascinating.
I love Summer –perhaps its warm weather. I always dislike
the cold even though Winter has given me a different kind of warm feeling. Speaking of Winter –our traveling seems to
end up in warm places like Caribbean, Mexico or Florida where sunshine seems to
monopolize regardless of season.
Perhaps Summer brings back the feeling of mine that I was
once a June bride or perhaps those
fond memories we have during our camping trips to nearby national parks or
perhaps those fireworks that sparkles the whole sky or perhaps the smell of the barbeque in the neighborhood.—Whatever
it is! It spells Summer.
Summer, here I come and each year my journey always seems to
cross path with you. Today, I am taking my friends, my readers with me for a
little visit and perhaps they would share with us—what does Summer mean to
them
So, What does Summer mean to you?
Until next stop,
Journey of Life
Oh, Angela, traveling is the one thing I have wished all my married life to share with hubby. But with all the times we've faced moving it hasn't come to pass. We have put so much time and energy into our children, that now I feel it is time for us to make time for us. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so very glad to read you are enjoying your vacation, your wedding celebration, Amiga!
Love and hugs,
~Virginia
Thank you Virginia. You don't have to travel far and beyond even small trip like hiking or going to nearby national parks are indeed traveling. --Meanwhile come and visit on Fridays and I would take you to places :-)
DeleteI love to travel too and love the adventures that my husband and I have enjoyed together. In fact, I would describe myself as a wanderer and an appreciator. Seems like you are the same way. Glad when I get to enjoy your happy traveler posts. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI know. You and I share a lot in common when come to traveling and I suspect life philosophy as well. Glad that I met you Elaine thru this cyber world.
DeleteI love that you travel so much!! And I love reading about your travels!
ReplyDeleteFor me, summer means family and friends and being together wherever and growing myself in some academic way to regenerate for teaching the next school year!
You are such a dedicated teacher. I wish my girls have you as their teacher! And I love how summer means to you.
DeleteFor me summer travel is out of the question most often. I just want to be here and enjoying every day of the warmth, the summer rains and the sun. I do love travel in the winter to warm places where summer lives endlessly. One day, I will live there. ♥
ReplyDeleteYes. Wouldn't it be fun to live in Caribbean or perhaps Hawaii... Actually I am not sure if any place can top California (at least in my mind :-))
DeleteAnother thing about traveling in Summer...sometimes places are extremely hot--like when we were at Athens, it was in 110 degree in Fahrenheit. Talk about Hot!
Journey- That's great! It is wonderful to not wish for what you can't afford- It has taken us awhile to get to that point- and even now, sometimes- we want things we can't afford easily- like private school for our kids. :) And your words remind me of some of my own thoughts before kids...It never occurred to me that I would ever give up my career- but it worked out well for us that I did (temporarily)...I plan to go back when the time is right for us- but that was a long and very hard and difficult decision. I have close friends that knew they couldn't give it up even with kids and that worked out very well for them, too- Traveling is great and I love the pic on the giant rock!
ReplyDeletePrivate school is always on my mind but my kids refuse to go. Then there are private schools in the East Coast that I wanted them to attend but I can't seem to let them go--Too young to be away from home IMHO.
DeleteYes. Traveling is always fun thing to do. I stopped working for a year and I drove myself and everyone crazy :-)
I love that everything you want is right here. Great fun post. Happy summer.
ReplyDeleteHappy Summer Laura!
DeleteLove that picture of you. The joy in your face is amazing. I love travel too. I took my first solo vacation at 21 to Ireland so I could have a beer in an Irish Pub. That was my "dream" at that time. Since then, I have cruised, and traveled and how I wish I could do more of it. My late hubby and I would jump in the car and take off for a week vacation in Maine, but end up instead in Florida. We would camp along the way, and met some great people. My trip to Paris was my dream from when I was 7 years old. I went after my hubby passed away and boy did I love it there..Can't wait to go again. I am hoping my husband will get the travel bug (we are only married 1.5 years and he hasn't taken to travel yet!).
ReplyDeleteThanks Winnie for the lovely comment and visit. Sounds like your life is filled with adventure. I have never tried traveling solo and I suspect I may not enjoy it :-)
DeleteYour late husband sounds like a very fun guy --in fact you two must have shared a lot of fun-filled life together.
Paris is amazing ... never been to Irish ... someday :-)
Yes, work on that hubby of yours so he could catch on with your travel bug :-)
Take care Winnie,
Angela
