Yeah ..Yeah … I don’t like cooking nor do I like baking. In fact, I
am quite lucky! When I grew up , food were just on the table for what I knew.
All I needed to do was to show up at the dining table and woala … foods were
ready and time for me to chow down. Then I was sent to college where I was on my own,
far away from home and I was living in a housing where it didn’t come with
food. Scratching my head and found myself at the Kentucky Fried Chicken with a
brand-new rice cooker. Cooking rice was a challenge … The rice was either
over-cooked or under-cooker—Take a pick!
Gradually … I managed to learn how to cook. Yeah … cooking
for survival! Before I knew it, I was cooking for some years until my first daughter
was born and then I was excused—Yes! You heard me right … ever since she was
born I have never been back to the kitchen except for getting some food. Foods
just magically appeared and they are good :-) –Can’t complain here …
Then my younger one was taking art-n-cooking class from her
school and (you guessed it) she made pretzel for me on Mother’s Day and for her
dad on Father’s Day –Cinnamon Rolls! Alright—she definitely carved out the
biggest smile out of her dad. And I think it was more like feeling proud and touched
:-)
Here are some photos for your amusement ...
Hope you enjoy this little cooking bug’s creations! --The biggest cinnamon rolls that I ever tasted and they were DE-li-ci-ous!!!
Until next stop,
Journey of Life
They look delicious! I love to cook and bake as do 4 out of 5 of my siblings. The youngest sister doesn't cook...She is the best at ordering in restaurants though! She is funny, she had all of us cooking growing up, and so she just never saw the need. She is single and I don't see that changing, and so she requests different meals from each of us. It is funny. My hubby doesn't cook at all. He tried fish sticks the other day, but they were sooooo cooked...We both laughed and he got points for trying...My stepson is a CIA trained chef, and his mother don't cook at all...was married to a chef, and had a son who is a chef...Now, that is a good way to live!
ReplyDeleteOkay ... when are you going to invite me over or can I order to go from you?
DeleteI think the key for cooking/baking is enjoyment. I never enjoyed it once --I literally cooked for necessity. So, I would think if you enjoy it then it is a treasure to keep. Sounds like your youngest sister n I are one kind :-). Since there was not a need and no passion was found either--have shaped who we are :-)
Ok, I need some hints here. I also hate cooking. But how do you get away with not cooking with kids? And I have the worst bunch of eaters to cook for; a husband who doesn't like spices, garlic or onions, i.e. anything that adds flavor; a son with food allergies and sensitivity to spices, and then me and Kenny who are a bit less fussy. Really, making dinner is my lowest point of the day. I just have to have a glass of wine to get through it. Especially as the boys rarely eat what is on their plates anyway, unless it's hamburgers or hotdogs or ronis. I make sure they take their multivitamins!
ReplyDeleteSandra,
DeleteFirst off, I don't envy you when comes to cooking:-) Yes. it must tough to be in your shoes in the kitchen. --I wouldn't know what to do. Probably would starve my family to the bone :-)
So yummyyy... Next time when I come to visit, make some for siau kuku
ReplyDeleteThey were there ... I just forgot to let you taste it .. maybe one of these days :-)
DeleteHi!! Thanks for stopping by my blog and following, I'm now returning the ♥!
ReplyDeleteI hate cooking too, but love baking (probably cause I'm such a dessert person :) My 17 yr old daughter is clueless though lol.

Thank you Paula, really appreciate it. I know what you mean ... I am the same way as your 17 yr old :-)
DeleteI don't like to cook or bake. If I were to ever hire one professional to help in the home, it would be a chef. Fortunately my husband does't mind cooking, and he gets home from work before I do. Most of the time I find dinner waiting when I arrive. I definitely can't complain! He is also teaching our daughters how to cook, which I was dreading.
ReplyDeleteLucky you :-) My bro-in-law cooks daily for my sister. :-) My hubby loves cooking and he often cooks during special occasions.
DeleteAngela, I have a great weakness for cinnamon rolls, and these call to me. Because of you, Amiga, I will have to make some this coming weekend. Sigh!
ReplyDeleteWell, thank you for the encouragement anyhow. :)
Woohoo! Perhaps, I get to taste your yummy recipe :-)
