Old Post Ressurection: My Love for Tango

First posted on May 3rd of this year and now it is part of the Old-Post Resurrection Hop with Sandra Tyler

I always feel intrigued by Tango’s movement and its music. Somehow the music sounds so defying. The female’s facial expression is so supercilious. The whole dance is so elegant! –And I started to fall in love…

My love for Tango wasn’t quite there until recently when I and hubby started to take private lessons from my Salsa dance’s teacher. Step by step she took us into her arms and led us into the dance floor. Baby steps were made until some movements were memorized and learned. Then all of the sudden the surge of excitement arose from my heart to my body. As the music flows… It takes my body with it and starts to move eloquently. As if it couldn’t resist the temptation that generated by Tango’s music. As if the Tango has its magnetic pulls that I can not resist. Without a choice, I submit wholeheartedly –And I started to fall in love helplessly…

Each time, when my hubby took my hands and gently led me into the dance floor. He would take charge and took me to wherever directions he wanted me to be. I would follow obediently as of this body has its own mind. I can no longer control it. If my mind decided to go against, the whole movement halted awkwardly and the music would abandon us and move on. But I won’t and nor could I. I felt like my whole feeling and body have been trapped inside a web, a Tango web and I can no longer escape. –And I started to fall in love deeper …

Little did I know that Tango dance has taught this free spirit of mine how to follow a lead and go where my loved one wants me to. I am always a freethinker person and go wherever I want to go and do whatever I want to do. Hardly anyone could stop me … Hardly anyone could prevent me until I met Tango dance where I would powerlessly surrender without any fight. This kind of feeling is so foreign to me yet familiar. It reminded me when I first fell in love with hubby. Couldn’t stay away from him, wanting to see and hear his voices. Wanting to be with him every seconds of my life. –And my love for Tango has gone deeper than one could imagine …

A lot of time in our lives, we find ourselves finding someone or something that we love and no matter how hard we try to stay away, we just can't. The love grows stronger each time and before we know it the love has taken controlled over us. Being in love is such a great feeling to have and sometimes it seems so unreal and hard to describe in words.  "We all want to fall in love. Why? Because that experience makes us feel completely alive. Where every sense is heightened, every emotion is magnified, our everyday reality is shattered and we are flying into the heavens. It may only last a moment, and hour, an afternoon. But that doesn't diminish its value. Because we are left with memories that we treasure for the rest of our lives." – This is exactly how I am feeling at this moment ...

This part of my journey with Tango has sparked a new excitement in my life that I feel like I am falling in love all over again. As you walk back into your own journey of life …I hope you would find yourself falling in love all over again and this time with something or that very someone in your life that may ignite your heart all over again ...

The Surprise …

Once in a while we need a surprise in our lives to jazz up the odd, and boring routine that we have in our journeys …

I’ve been busy –way too busy, preparing for our business unit’s product demo in our company’s Expo Demo event that took place yesterday. And I didn’t even have time to post yesterday.  I must say, it was an interesting experience in my career pretending to be a Marketing folk for a day.
The road leading up to yesterday was pretty rough –long and tedious. The person who was responsible to pass on the information to me was not very responsive –typical enterprise employee. And I was responsible to talk about the product that I nearly know nothing about. Sometimes I wonder why I persist …

So, between pausing and taking notes listening to the video that was sent to me –I put together a demo. Every last bit of problems were there up until the night before the demo. I was panic and made whole bunch of mistakes but then all of the sudden my knowledge was doubled perhaps quadrupled –standing at my booth at 10:30 pm the night before yesterday feeling as my light bulb was brighter than ever.

Yesterday came and ready as I was. People started to show up at our Demo booth and then –talking and interacting with people seem so natural to me. (I wonder if I am in the wrong field all this time :-) )
Before I knew it, I was talking pretty much non-stop for hours –I was standing and demoing for about 6 hours or so. At the end of the day, time for award has approached. We have two booths and internally we had decided to let our sister booth have the vote –and we would share the prize if we were chosen.

Runner up was called then the third award winner... Time for second award winner –silence as we were-- speechless.

As we guessed it though still came as a big surprise that we have actually won 1st prize on two different categories (people choice and geek.) All of the hard work was definitely paid off.

Wait, second award!Yes! Unexpectedly, our booth has won 2nd prize despite we had sent all of the traffics who came to our booth to vote for our sister booth but yet … --Somehow, somewhere the visitors decided we deserved some votes :-) As one of my coworker told me yesterday evening–he said, “Booth #53 (our booth) was the true winner because we didn’t ask for it and yet people vote for it” Between our sister's booth and ours, we have walked away with three awards (1st and 2nd prize for People Choice and 1st prize for the Geek awards :-)) --Way too awesome!

And that to me was the needed surprise in my career …

Living with the Dead …

Um… Just the thought of the cemetery can spook many of us if not all, how about having your very own home in the cemetery?

In Egypt, it is very common practice from the olden days to build a cemetery that is so elaborate and looks like a house. It gave the convenience for the living to mourn during the funerals and ease the visiting time.

However, due to current Egypt’s chronic housing crisis, some of the Egyptians were forced to move into Cairo’s City of the Dead –Cemeteries with living people above the surface and dead below.
In fact, they were about 5 Million people (recently updated number off the net) willingly or UN-willingly are occupying the cemetery as their very own home. Instead of playing out in the park or fields, the children are playing in between the tombs.

The family of the deceased seem to care less since they view the living occupants as people who accompanying the dead. Why not, I guess! The living conditions are not the best but manageable, they have running water, electricity and such with one caveats –enormous smell of the garbage piled up outside their door.

Let me take you on a journey into the City of the Dead thru this YouTube video that I found ...

Journey to the Philae Temple

This is another phenomenon that the World Heritage has done, they have rescued yet another temple from completely drowning in an island in Philae, Egypt, to nearby island, now renamed Philae. They literally numbered each piece then moved them and reassembled them back in the same relative position like a jigsaw puzzle and the whole thing took place between 1972 and 1980. –Simply fascinating!

A bit of history behind our journey today, Philae in Greek means ‘the end’ –signifying the southernmost limit of Egypt. And Philae temple was first built by Pharaoh Napktnebef Kheperkare (Nectanebo I) purely dedicated for Isis, the mother of god. Isis is an important figure in the Egyptian ancient world.  She is often associated with the funeral rites as an enchantress who resurrected Osiris and gave birth to Horus, the owl. She is also known as the giver of life, a healer, and protector of kings. That is why in many temples throughout Egypt, one would see Isis in the walls’ inscription.

What is so special about this temple? It has gone thru minimum of two different civilizations –the Egyptian and the Roman. During the roman time in Egypt, some of the chambers were converted for Christian worship.

Enough talks as pictures tell thousand words ….

Your ticket --without it, you will be left swimming in the island :-)

The view from the boat ...

Check out the details of the architecture ...

Horus, the god, son of Isis

Isis --the furthest left

Lotus, symbolizing the Sun and creation

Inscription in wall --describing offering

A proof that we were there :-)

Can you tell I love columns ?

Let's see if I can move it to the US! :-)
